Hi, I am a quallified florist and my business partner and I have recently sold our florist shop to further develop an Internet based Florist Directory/marketing tool for florists. We launched in New Zealand in March 2007 and are currently expanding to accomodate overseas florists and have had great interest from Australia and Canada. We developed Vuzien because we were sick of the florist being on the raw end of the direction that the industry is heading, not to mention the consumer. We have a great passion and drive for our industry and beleive that flowers are still a great gift option. It is the way the flowers are ordered that poses the problems. With the huge lean towards internet shopping, the large relay services and what the industry now call 'order gatherers' and 'skimmers', are now becomming more and more greedy taking up to 40% in fees from the order value. The florist although paying for their flowers on a weekly basis, usually will not get paid their cut till the end of the month. Even worse, these companies are now drop shipping the flowers themselves, no presentation required (make your own bq, heres a box with a vase and your flowers), resulting in cutting out the much needed and hard working real local florists. With Vuzien the customer links directly with a real florist in the area they need to send flowers, pays the florist directly and immediately(not vuzien), then the florist makes the arrangement, takes a digital photo, sends the flowers to the recipient and using the Vuzien Software (we developed to make a professional and easy as 123 service), sends the purchaser a link to view the photo of the flowers that were recieved by the recipient on the Vuzien website. We are very excited to be the first to opperate and impliment such a wonderful customer based service.
